This was taken just recently, in fact. I passed my doctoral viva two years ago (!), but, this place being what it is, I didn't actually get the ceremony (two hours of Latin, heh) and the piece of paper until two years later...
I'm off to Beijing!
I'll leave the ol' Half Dipper in auto-publication mode, and see you on my return. Here's wishing you some good tea in the interim!
Brilliant photoshoping!
ReplyDeleteAh, this must be taken on the day of degree ceremony which you were conferred your PhD.
ReplyDeleteNice photo.

What? Two hours of Latin? Hope it had subtitle or interpretation, otherwise must bore those who can't understand Latin to tears.
ReplyDeleteI can see they have to make sure no one can challenge your thesis that why it took 2 years after the viva.
Have a lovely trip to Beijing.

The parents got translations. There were plenty of confused students, however... :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the best wishes, Apache - I'm hoping for a little time in Maliandao, of course!
All the best,
Hobbes
