  1. Dear Hobbes,

Will the two professors of tea meet? We are all in suspense.

  2. Dear Hster,

I trust that all is well in the lovely southwest. :)

Sadly, I was in HK for 36 hours and, of those, 6 were spent asleep, 2 were spent in miscellaneous hotel-based activities, and most of the remainder were spent in meetings. I did manage to sneak in a quick (rooftop garden!) evening of gin-and-tonics with a good friend who has moved to HK, but, sadly, I have been in China for one week now and have had zero hours for tea-related fun.

That said, there are a number of tea-related academics HK! I refer the honourable Hster to Prof. GV (recently moved from the UK), Dr. MarshalN, and Dr. LY (recently moved from Singapore). I also have a previous post-doc from my group living in Kowloon. Maybe next time. :)

  3. Dear Hobbes,

Now we are left to our imaginations as to what could have happened. I might be forced to whip up an irreverent skit for my own amusement. I'll keep it private.

p.s. We are in the middle of such a serious drought that I might have to stop rinsing my tea.

  4. Interestingly, it seems that the students (and post-docs?!) of Hong Kong went into full protest mode the day after I left. Central was a great deal quieter when I was there - it's an oddity to imagine that people are being tear-gassed in those same streets.
