English Storage, V

2006 Xizihao Banzhang


Following an excellent suggestion by Shah, I celebrated a lazy Sunday morning by revisiting one of my first cakes - a Xizihao that is now half a decade old.  What makes this one interesting is that its spent that half-decade in English storage.

    It's interesting that you published an article about revisiting one of your first cakes today. I just received a nice little package from The Essence of Tea containing my very first cake, a 2011 EoT Mansai.

    Now I'm trying to decide what to taste first, the 1997 Henglichang Bulang sample you recommended or my Mansai cake. :)

  3. Today I decided to try the Mansai; a great cake indeed! I found the flavour to be somewhat similar to the 2007 Baichatang Gu Chayuan that I tried earlier, although not as sweet and with a bit of a smoky tobacco aftertaste.

    I'm quite curious about the Bulang, but that one is going to have to wait until tomorrow morning.

    Let's hope I manage to maintain this level of quality on my future tea purchases. :)
