Empty Tearooms

empty tearooms
behind old sliding doors

From "Lantian" [Blue Sky] teahouse, in Zhumadian, Henan Province. Over the door reads "Cha chan yi wei" [tea, Zen, one taste]. Each tearoom has a sliding door, gongfucha table, and a keng [northern-style brick bed that is heated from within by a log fire].

One of the most beautiful teahouses I've ever entered, and one of the most empty. Its regular patrons are the sunbeams in each tearoom.

What a wonder it would be to see one of your lovely photographs of this very scene. :)

Perhaps my neglecting to take a camera to Zhumadian that day was a blessing - the sunbeams and sliding doors remain a fond memory, without photograph, hinted at by the image of the park shown above. :)
