A painting by my father, executed during travels early in his career, fits well with the exploits of his hopeless son, who managed to get lost on his way to the institution that funded Darwin, Livingstone, and most of the great explorers from our little island.
I am fond of this haiku, and hope that its light-hearted tone would meet the approval of my father, whose sense of humour is much like my own.
