Our own apple crops are a lot less impressive, although we grow handsome babies.
The Apple crop was very good in Maine this year (last year it suffered due to a surprising spring frost the hit the trees just as they were blossoming).
My son, who is probably just a few months older than yours, loves to rip apples off of trees-- he usually takes a few bites before he throws down the apple and picks another one, repeat ad infinitum...

I'm glad to read that the partial apple-devouring is not restricted to just my son. :)
That said, his limited height means that the majority of apples remain tantalisingly out-of-reach!
